Apple CarPlay integrates your iPhone with your BMW’s iDrive system. This will grant access to iOS apps directly on the dashboard. This feature enhances your driving experience while enjoying music, calls, text messages, and navigation apps—all hands-free with Siri.

BMW Apple CarPlay is compatible with ID5/ID6 professional iDrive systems (8.8 inches) starting from July 2016. Verify below whether your iDrive system version is compatible.

Go to “Navigation” > Choose “Map” > Press Options button > Select “Navigation settings” > Scroll down to “Position and Version” > Select “Version Information”.

If your firmware starts with the letter N, O, P, Q, R, S, U, V, W, X, Y. e.g. NBTevo_N then your firmware is compatible.

Note that CarPlay Full Screen is only supported by versions starting from N up to Y.

For versions from H up to M CarPlay is half screen. Nevertheless, it is possible to buy service BMW NBT EVO ID5/ID6 Flash Upgrade for Full Screen support.

BMWs with version NBTEVO_C/D/E/F/G can support CarPlay only after a full software flash from ID4 to ID5/ID6 plus installation of a wi-fi antenna.

To ensure CarPlay compatibility with your BMW, provide us with the 17 Characters & Digits of your VIN Number.

If your vehicle is equipped with both the Wireless Charging (6NW) option and Wi-Fi Hotspot (6WD) no Wi-fi antenna is required. In the contrary, you must install the wi-fi antenna yourself or come to us otherwise activation will fail.

In the event your BMW does not support CarPlay activation, we offer the possibility to install what is called CarPlay MMi box. This will enable Apple CarPlay & Android Auto in your BMW.
